If you’re excited too, I’d encourage you to come check out my stream live at /adventurerules, but if you’re reading this too late to catch the stream when it happens then the power of technology will allow you to catch the VOD here (assuming my goofy ass remembers to put the link there). The stream is going to be a blast and I am pumped to get to talk to my friends about these titles and characters that have meant so much to me over the years. Though we’ve all experienced so much of the series, each of us is coming from a different background and perspective with very different preferences on what makes a compelling character. At the time of posting, that’s tomorrow night! My guests will be the venerable Matt AKA The 3rd Player as well as my wonderful brother Deen AKA mdomeer2, both of whom are easily just as passionate as I am about the Fire Emblem games. On Tuesday, March 23rd, 2021 at 8 PM EDT, I’ll be teaming up with two other streamers to debate our tier lists for three games in the Fire Emblem series: Path of Radiance, Awakening, and Three Houses. I decided to take that idea and expand upon it, and the Fire Emblem Tier List stream was born. During one of those streams I posed a question to my viewers – what kind of content would they be interested in seeing from me for a bonus stream that could be “funded” with channel points? A few people jokingly (or maybe not-so-jokingly) suggested a Fire Emblem waifu list. And recently I brought Fire Emblem to my stream audience in the form of Path of Radiance. Some of my most successful articles on Adventure Rules are guides for the Fates series as well as my ranking of my ten favorite character endings for Fire Emblem Three Houses. So it’s likely not surprising that so much of my passion for Fire Emblem has influenced my work as a blogger and now a streamer. I’ll happily dive into Fire Emblem time and again to discover the varied support relationships of the characters, play through each story path, and test out new mechanical possibilities for the cast members. I have played almost every title with a western release and for many of them, my playtime exceeds hundreds of hours. This, effectively means that The Watcher is the best character in Slay the Spire, without any doubt.Fire Emblem is one of my favorite all-time video game series. This means that you'll need to go on the defensive while you save your energy to reach more powerful Stances so you can dish damage capable of killing many enemies in one hit. However, this requires you to have cards that allow you to build up Mantra which is needed to enter this Stance. The crown jewel is the Divinity Stance which grants you three energy points and lets you deal triple damage. Each Stance provides different bonuses while it's active, such as Wrath doubling damage and Calm providing extra energy upon Exit. This noticeably takes the forms of Stances, which the Watcher can enter or exit by playing certain cards. Inspired by martial artists, this character incorporates a lot of Eastern practices into their fighting style. This character has the second lowest starting HP and a Relic that adds a Miracle (retain one energy point) at the start of combat. ![]() The fourth and final character in the game, the Watcher is unlocked by completing a victory run after you've unlocked the Defect. Some of the characters are much more difficult to master than others, but each could potentially be effective once you understand how they work. Who's the best character in Slay the Spire?Įach character has the potential to be the best character based on how you play them. Each character has distinct strengths and weaknesses, but is seemingly more effective than the others. You'll need to complete runs with the characters to unlock cards for their respective decks as well as additional Relics to obtain during runs. ![]() Each character gains access to different cards, giving an insight into their strategy and how they need to be played in order to ensure that they get as far as they can. Each character has their own starting health and Relic that is tailored to their playstyle. There are four characters that you have to choose from: The Ironclad, the Silent, the Defect, and the Watcher. We made this guide to help you pick the best character in Slay the Spire. Because of this, the character you choose will greatly determine how easy or hard it will be to reach the top. However, you'll only ever have one character on your side of the screen while the enemies are free to attack in groups. A common trait in roguelike and roguelite games is that each run starts you at square one with only a handful of starting abilities and equipment. Its turn-based combat uses a card-game system, giving you a lot of options.
